Yard Rules
Children
Children are welcomed but must abide by a few rules for everyone’s safety and security.
Children 14 and under must be supervised at all times.
Running around the premises is not permitted at any time.
Children are not allowed to climb onto the hay bales, gates, machinery or fences at any time.
Ball games are not permitted on the yard.
You are responsible for your own safety around that yard, and for that of any children with you.
Children are not allowed to lead horses or ride without supervision.
If they are assisting with mucking out etc, then the adult responsible for them is accountable for their behaviour and whereabouts at all times.
Please be respectful of other horse owners.
Pets
Dogs must be under control at all times and kept on a lead for safety reasons.
Any dog mess must be picked up, placed in poo bags and taken home to be disposed of. This must not be disposed of on the muck heap.
Animals found to be a nuisance; owners will be asked to remove them from the yard immediately.
Safety
Any damage must be reported to Chloe, Connor or Aimee immediately.
The gate in front of the muck heap must be closed when not in use especially if horses are on the yard area.
Gates around the yard must be closed when leaving the yard and the main gate must be closed when leaving the yard. Do not give the gate combination to anyone not on the yard.
Field gates must be closed at all times.
If a horse is a known kicker it must NOT be tied up where other horses or people will pass behind or alongside it. It is not sufficient to tell people that your horse kicks. It is your responsibility to prevent an accident. Be aware that medication, pain, box rest etc may make a previously calm horse tetchier, so take precautions as necessary.
Cleaning
Remove all droppings, hay, clippings etc on the yard and sweep the stable/yard area when you have finished.
Barrows and equipment must be put away after use.
It is your responsibility to keep the area outside your stable clean and tidy.
Please keep the office tidy and wash up after yourselves.
Water taps must be turned off when not in use and not used for water fights.
Litter is to be placed in bins.
General
DO NOT Feed other people’s horses or go into stables without the owner’s consent.
Each person will have an allocated storage area. Please do not use other areas around the yard.
Please be aware of your language and topics of conversation on the yard especially in the presence of children.
Please keep the volume of radios etc to a low level so it does not disturb other people.
If someone other than the usual person is doing your horse, please let us know prior to this for security reasons.
It is your responsibility to make sure anyone you invite on to the yard is aware of and follows all rules set by Dewsnap Equestrian and you will take full responsibility for any damage caused by them.
If you have any issue, they must be raised with Chloe or Connor immediately.
Please be respectful of everyone whilst on the premise.
CCTV
We consistently use CCTV to monitor the security and compliance with rules on the yard, menège etc. and may store any images we record for our own purposes. By signing the contract, you are agreeing to the usage of CCTV for this purpose.
Turnout
No horse is to be turned out on its own, or left on its own in a field without prior arrangement with us.
If you are bringing in your horse, please check to see if you are leaving one on its own, in which case you can: -
- bring it in, or
- contact the owner directly or contact us to contact the owner.
If a horse is notoriously difficult to bring in and you are using livery 'bring in service', please use a 'safe' headcollar for turnout to make it easier for us to catch.
Please liaise with other livery owners as necessary to coordinate your turnout, or utilise the livery services to ensure that your horse is not alone in the field.
Wash bay/Solarium
The shower must be turned off in between uses.
The LPG gas bottle and taps must be turned off after use for safety reasons.
This area must be left clean and tidy as you would expect to find it.
If solarium/wash bay is already in use by another horse owner, you must ask permission to enter with your horse. The owner already occupying the area has the right to deny access to the other horse.
Please be mindful of time taken in the wash bay/solarium especially if someone is waiting to use the facilities.
Horses must be supervised at all times whilst using these facilities.
